Cotton Building, Manchester

The XYZ Building (formerly The Cotton Building) will be a significant and innovative property within Manchester’s Spinningfields business district, right in the heart of the City Centre. McLaren will construct the property with 160,000 sq ft of commercial space and over 30,000 sq ft of public amenity space. SBE Began work on the development late 2015 with an estimated completion date of summer 2016, potential tenants already lined up.

Two levels of basement will provide parking, plant requirements and a gym and cycle facility for the Spinningfields area. The ground floor of the building will provide a number of different uses, most notably a secure reception facility for tenants. A business support centre, which will include seminar space, meeting rooms, exhibition facilities and breakout spaces, will serve tenants and the general public.

Levels 1 to 6 will comprise of highly flexible commercial office space where multiple arrangements can be accommodated to meet the demands of tenants. Level 7 will link to large south facing terraces and an upper mezzanine level via a double height space and feature staircases, maximising southerly vistas along Hardman Boulevard. views.

Due to the nature of the project, and the style of the building, all electrical work/containment is visible, making it prudent that SBE deliver their usual high standard of work. Every detail of the installation has to be engineered and co-ordinated efficiently, and correctly between on-site trades and contractors.

Whilst SBE are installing all lighting across the project, dali lighting controls have also been fitted throughout the development.
